High Heels: The Wiki (via Little Marc Jacobs)

If I take this as one of the innumerable examples of shots showing little girls charmingly trying to copy Mumsy and wear her high heels, then I could add to it ad nauseam – I’ll wait and see if I feel so inspired…

In the meantime a one-sided Wiki extract that includes all the positives:

“The case for wearing high heels is based almost exclusively on aesthetic reasons, including that they:

    • change the angle of the foot with respect to the lower leg, which accentuates the appearance of calves;
    • change the wearer’s posture, requiring a more upright carriage and altering the gait in what is considered a seductive fashion;
    • make the wearer appear taller;
    • make the legs appear longer;
    • make the foot appear smaller;
    • make the toes appear shorter;
    • make the arches of the feet higher and better defined;
    • according to a single line of research, they may improve the muscle tone of some women’s pelvic floor, thus possibly reducing female incontinence.” (Wikipedia.org)

Logically there are negatives, but you can read the Wiki if you’re that interested…

By the way, I really like the model’s hair: that mix between well-coiffed and loose…the image is from Little Marc Jacobs‘ Spring-Summer 2012 collection – here are a couple more – but these are resolutely barefooted:
