Chantal is Russian photographer Elena Litsova’s eldest daughter, the other being Leóna (often seen in the shots here with Chantal) – tho’ she is step-mother to at least two children from her marriage to a hunky Icelander called Ómar Sigtryggsson. Chantal’s parentage is too complex for me to unravel: she posts on Facebook as Chantal Milena, but her Facebook file-name gives her surname as “Omarsdottir” – a rather sweet tribute to her stepfather Ómar, Leóna’s father – and she gives the name of her actual father as Michael Nakvachara. To complicate matters more, Elena’s Flickr account gives her name as Sigtryggsson, but everywhere else (notably her site) and Facebook (see below) it’s still Litsova.
They live in Richmond, a leafy suburb of London, and up till recently Chantal went to Christ’s School. The only slightly unusual thing about her (except her complicated family) is the fact that while at school she “married” Iris Magnúsdóttir (in December 2013 – see below). She’s another example of my contention that lady photographers have photogenic daughters by some sort of osmosis – and that they inevitably choose one of their children as their muse. Elena seems to have been almost dumbfounded by Chantal’s growing beauty through the years, and has taken these spectacularly beautiful portraits of her – not missing Chantal’s rather moody and reflective moments among the fun: you get the impression that she’s a complicated girl….
