The photographer, Artemiaspace/Gordana, writes in Italian on Flickr – coming from the Croatian city of Pula/Pola, which is officially bilingual. It’s impossible to know if she writes in Italian because she is from one of the few Italian families that stayed in the city after the Istrian exodus of 1946/7 (not one of Churchill’s finest moments), or just because it’s more commonly spoken than Croatian. She has that well-represented Flickr theme: galleries packed with images of her muse – her daughter, Erica Nicole (sounds Italian…..basta….stop speculating…).
She makes no real attempt to do much more than record Erica’s beauty and character in reasonably straight-forward head/head-and-shoulder shots, sometimes using outside locations or a hat to give variety. It doesn’t really matter: Erica is a wonderfully photogenic model, and you barely notice anything besides her presence in the shot – and when you say model, she has the perfect eyes-nose-mouth combination to really be a fashion/photographic model. The last two posts show a newish direction: the most prepared (in the sense of hair and make-up), intense and emotional portraits of Erica Nicole – but they are from three years ago, and with a teenager a lot can happen in three years….
