….another dip into the long-running blog of a “retired” photographer of British descent, brought up in Argentina and having worked in Mexico – now living with his Canadian wife in Vancouver. This is an earlier portrait of his now-fifteen-year-old granddaughter Rebecca, who was Alex’s model – along with her sister Lauren – in my previous extract from his blog: here.

His blog has a lot of photography lore, but he’s lived a full life, done many things and met many interesting people – so it’s always an interesting read. He’s also pleasantly iconoclastic – how d’you fancy a photography course professor who was perfectly happy with an iPhone 3G (until his wife persuaded him to buy a Fuji XE1)?

Of the two versions of Rebecca’s portrait I prefer the monochrome – the lighting and hair detail seem better….
