…..”Sisters and Daughters” since the two girls are clearly very close, but also because they’re always seen through the lens (and perspective) of a loving mother – Nathalie Martens. I’d searched for the girls’ names on her two Facebook profiles, but in the end I was going to make an informed guess that the two named girls in the video I published in a previous post (see also for links to Nathalie and her photographic studio – Sproetjes & Zoo) were her daughters – and then I found a caption to the penultimate image in my gallery that confirmed it: “Portret Nanou & Fee”…..
You’ll notice that some of the images include the girls’ bare chests: the Belgians and Dutch are similar to the Spanish and Russians in this part of their culture: little girls’ flat chests are exactly the same as boys’ – and don’t need to be covered up if not necessary. Also, I think it’s a joke in the image where the two of them seem to be getting the photographic studio’s logo tattooed on their forearms…..
