This is the yin of Russian model Polina Volkova‘s portfolio: a sweet pair of images by Julia Voronova for Sardon (with the enormous cropped version as the link page’s featured image), executive producer Gabito Rohh. She has a pretty normal run of images where her perky little blonde persona is used to the full by various photographers (most watermarked – plus the rather sweet featured image above the title, with the great Annie Sutormina, photo by Jana Kai/Kay):
…..then some transitional sessions, where a more serious, dramatic Polina starts to emerge (the satin dress/denim shorts/painting studio ones are by Maria Hert):
……..the last shot demonstrating what had been recognised: she has that slightly unnerving expressionless factor that very blonde eyebrows can give to a face – and when she isn’t smiling her eyes bore into you….
Going with that, she’s achieved a number of yang sessions – full-on drama – mainly shot by Nadezhda (Nadima) Shibina: first the “Elephant” set:
…..followed by the same photographer’s “Two Sisters” session (with Alisa Liss) – this time even frosting their eyelashes to gain maximum “Ice Queen” effect:
…….plus some more moody goodies mostly by Shibina:
If you look at some of these – the last one for instance – you can see a future for her in the acting that her VK.com site says she does as well as modelling. Nadezhda specialises in very over-the-top “fairytale”, “medieval”, “Narnia” reconstructions in her photographs, and it says something for Polina’s qualities that she uses her so often….
