These are what I would consider as Anna Volk‘s genre classics (the genre being girls’ fashion photography), including a couple of Alisa and Annie from the previous post (see for other links)- the first has two versions:
……with a choice between an enormous moon or tree branches: probably the latter having been chosen, since it has the text “Winter Story” – one of Anna’s collections. (The little blonde on the right being Polina Volkova, while the other model could even be Anna’s daughter, since she’s named as Alessandra Wolf: both “wolf” and Volk seeming to translate as “Волк”.) Both girls’ outfits are pretty hideous, but as an ensemble it really works, being a mad assembly of rabbit’s ears, wearing socks in snow, a furry cape and a ruffle skirt – with Polina seeming to be doing something strange behind one of Alessandra’s ears.
…..who is another Alisa/Alice according to Fashion Kids here, and definitely the same model as this:
….both shots forming part of Anna’s “Winter Story” collection. Anyway whatever her surname is, she has the loveliest, glossiest hair (that Photoshop can supply, possibly) – and the veil was a stroke of genius.
….which looks awfully like the model had been wearing just transparent chiffon, and someone had quickly preserved her modesty with a roll of textured wallpaper….Tiffany Beveridge would love it!
…..which is just a lovely capture of what you feel is the model’s essence: alert, friendly, intelligent – and wearing a pretty vintage-looking dress, too.
Anna’s done some schoolwear sessions:
…..finding models with perfect gamine, coltish legs for the sessions – kneecaps you could cut bread with…..
She wouldn’t be a Russian photographer of girls if she didn’t have a number of ballet/dance related shots in her portfolio – and she even has some she put together with “#BALLET” watermarked on them:
As you can see, there’s a bigger emphasis on the portrait qualities than the strictly “dance” qualities: meaning that the tutu/leotard costume was incidental to the art of portraying the model’s character and expression. Anna really is an excellent photographer: when working for commissions as much as on her own projects.
Here are the fuori categorìa:
She really is one of the stalwarts of Russian child photography, producing moments of inspiration among the humdrum commercial work – helped by having some of the best young models in the world to choose from. I mentioned that the girl in the first image could be her daughter – well, she’s an attractive woman herself, and just the right age:
……..just found proof: photographer mother and model daughter together: and would you believe it, there’s another one on the way…..well, there was back in Dec. 2014…….let’s just hope she was a girl….:
