“Ti amo Puglia” actually means “I love you, Apulia/Apuglia/Puglia”: but this session could really have been shot anywhere in southern Europe and have pretty well the same vibe. Puglia (let’s forget the anglicisations of Apulia/Apuglia –  they’re used about as often as “Leghorn” for Livorno) is best known for the trulli – strange hobbit-type small round white-washed houses with conical roofs, particularly in the Alberobello district – but even these aren’t featured in this southern Italian set, with the two models Thelma and Antonella, by French photographer Pierre Nicou for the equally French Kids Magazine (see the link for the brands being promoted).

As for me, they’re lovely examples of one of the most practical and flattering garments for young girls: rompers and bloomers. The rest of the set gives a bit more idea of the atmosphere of the setting – the Masseria Cimino – with pretty, fresh dresses and overallsbut alas, no more rompers:

…..photographed together, the little redhead seems to enjoy herself – but only for the last shot did Pierre manage to coax a wan smile from her on her own.  Children’s photography is always a little unpredictable….but I suppose that’s why some photographers love it…
