After a much-appreciated five “likes” for the first of this two-parter, I’m a little afraid of disappointing anyone….mainly since the rest of the Carmen Taberner (see previous post for links) promotional material doesn’t have quite the same colourful, linear, and downright fun vibe that that first set has. Having said that, I should point out that the company itself has been going since 1948, so it has every right to be the staid old-fashioned brand that it in fact…..isn’t. They really specialise in knitwear – but still manage to put out promotions that co-ordinate the knitwear with lovely dresses, skirts and accessories….the Spanish are extremely keen on knitting and crocheting – and they have masses of blogs for do-it-yourself-ers.
Talking of the Spanish and knitting has also reminded me that I need to do a post on a company with a similar fashion repertoire – Lan Fairy – as you can see, their collection for this year’s First Communion dresses is in direct competition with Carmen Taberner‘s “Colección Ceremonia” touted in the header image:
However, the following gallery of CT‘s outfits is from different years and collections, with everything thrown in, props-wise: dogs, fake flamingos, old suitcases, flowers taped to the walls, straw bales, violins, plants, ladders – you name it, a photographic studio has it – now I remember why I preferred the first post’s visual style……the main saving grace here being the same as for most Spanish girls’ fashion sets: good quality models who really try to sell the outfits while looking cute but not saccharine:
Clearly the outfits are generally intended for parties and special occasions like weddings and First Communion – but some are also destined for everyday use (see the Instagram image-link below, for an example where the model’s wearing a simple jumper and cloche hat with matching rompers for a country walk). The brand isn’t cheap: but you’re getting hand-made, heirloom-quality pieces for the investment – if only you could get the little dears to stay the same age for a few years: this really is when they’re irresistibly sweet….and buying a new dress is a pleasure…..
