This eleven-year-old Russian model/actress living in Australia – Ekaterina (Kate) Perova – had the self-same portrait posted on the blog originally as an “orphan” image looking for a source, here. Luckily a diligent WordPress follower, Ricki1300, quickly gave the location of the image in a comment – and it isn’t just any cute portrait of a fashion model – it’s by the great Lilly K Photography during one of Isa Battaglin‘s forays to other continents. Kate (or her mother) pointing out the confluence of different countries and nationalities in the event (that’s her brother Max with Kate and Isa):
It was such a pleasure to work with @lillykphotography ♥️ thank you! Modern world is amazing it is possible meeting a #Brazilian 🇧🇷 who is living in #USA 🇺🇸 with #Russians 🇷🇺in #Australia 🇦🇺 and we were able to have #fun 👍no borders for #Art and #Beauty !✌️@ekaterina_1ova can't wait to see her photos. Max is also happy to start his #modelling with such a great #photographer as #lillykphotography 😘
….here are two more from the session:
…..and there are three more in a different dress:
…….Kate is a fascinating girl: she artfully says that she spent her whole time travelling, and now is “stuck” in Australia! I’ve got no idea what her parents do for a living, but her father seems to be the @aspectusphotography that takes much of Kate’s non-professional shots (see image link below). She isn’t a classically-photogenic girl, and can take a so-so shot, but has bags of enthusiasm, a winning (if goofy) smile – and the ability to turn her personality on for an important shot. Her eyes have a beautiful Asiatic cast, making her face interesting – tho’ in fact she says she’s actually more interested in acting than modelling.
Here’s a gallery – including some nice portraits by Michael Murchie, the first two and the header, for example (humorous image-link below – photo actually taken by Kate’s Mum), whom I’ve featured before in a not-to-be-missed post on the ultra-photogenic Skyla Jay Carpenter – here:
…..this post is a really good example of Instagramitis, the reduction of a gallery to a hotch-potch of single images or small sets. As I mentioned in a recent post, Facebook at least gives models and photographers the possibility of putting sets and sessions in discrete albums – or even the leisure just to post a related bunch of images together in their Timeline. Instagram has an associated feeding frenzy, that makes constantly putting up new posts a priority – leading to fragmentation, repetition, and poor quality images. Somewhere, Kate probably has some strong sets available – but it would need more time and patience than I’ve got to go about assembling them.
Anyway, look at that last portrait: a beautiful, fascinating face – wonderful eyebrows, a lovely snub nose, deep brown eyes with fair hair, full lips – what the Italians would call le labbra carnose (“carne” being meat – so literally “fleshy”) – that’s the face of a world-class model. Final proof? Look at Isa’s image-link below….
